Nitrox Course in Gozo in Details

Learn to dive safer and longer by extending your no decompression limits with Nitrox. But what is Nitrox, you may ask yourself? Nitrox (or Enriched Air Nitrox/EAN) is a breathing gas mixture that contains more oxygen and less nitrogen than typically found in atmospheric air. This course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to dive safely with Nitrox. You will gain insights into the entire Nitrox spectrum. You will learn how to safely plan and dive with nitrox to extend bottom times, increase safety margins and reduce post-dive fatigue. Nitrox is a perfect course to be taken alongside our recreational Sidemount and/or Deep Diver Course – contact us for details.

The course will be structured as follows:

Complete the academic e-learning part of the course. Work at your own pace, using a mobile device or a computer. Complete the final exam part of the course before certification.
Use nitrox to its full potential by using a variety of calculations to account for different depths, dive times and gas mixes. Create a dive plan to extend dive times and increase safety margins. The wreck is at 30 metres, what mix do I use? How deep can I dive with Nitrox 32? These are just some of the questions you will answer during the course.
Learn how to properly analyse gases using oxygen analysers. Learn how to calibrate the analyser to get the most accurate reading. Learn how to label your cylinders and how to complete log sheets, including MOD and oxygen content. Finally, learn how to program a dive computer accordingly.
Put your training into practice. Analyse your tank and mark it accordingly. Set your computer to reflect the correct mix, plan your dive and enjoy your extended bottom time.

Why Train with Us?

Best Instructors

Train with an instructor who eats, breathes and sleeps sidemount.

Here, Sidemount is not just another course among hundreds of courses - it’s the main event! We exceed all agency standards and make sure you don’t leave the course as a liability on dive sites and boats.

Small Group Sizes

We choose quality over quantity any day!

Small group sizes. 2 divers max per course, 4 divers max per guided dive. Without a doubt, the smaller the group the better the experience.

Personal Approach

Courses are completely tailored to you, your needs and your diving preferences.

Perhaps you want to dive sidemount in a drysuit with steels or on holiday in the tropics with a wetsuit and Ali’s. We’ll make sure you’re confident and ready for anything.

Commitment
to Safety

Learn to sidemount efficiently and safely by focusing on entries, exits and emergency drills.

Diving in sidemount configuration requires extra consideration for keeping yourself and others safe and taking care of emergencies. Become an asset to any dive team by enhancing and practicing your Rescue skills.

The Right Way

Learn skills and procedures at the right level and become fully competent.

Save yourself months of frustration. Many divers take a sidemount course that is far too basic and leaves them with massive gaps in their knowledge and skills. Don’t be that diver. We have invested in our own diving skills and education and we use this base to teach to the highest level.

Frequently Asked Questions about our nitrox diving course in Gozo

What is nitrox?

Nitrox (also referred to as Enriched Air Nitrox or EAN) is a breathing gas mixture that contains more oxygen and less nitrogen than typically found in atmospheric air.

Why use nitrox?

The use of Nitrox allows for extended bottom times and shorter surface intervals. Less nitrogen in the gas mixture reduces the risk of decompression illness and enhances safety.

Is Nitrox safe?

Yes, nitrox is widely used in recreational diving and provides many benefits for divers when used properly. Remember to always seek proper training and dive within your limits.

What are the benefits of using nitrox?

Nitrox, when used correctly, has many benefits for divers.  Less nitrogen allows for extended bottom times, reduces the risk of decomposition sickness and nitrogen narcosis at depth.

What are the risks of using nitrox?

Despite the many benefits, the use of nitrox comes with certain risks. One of such risks is oxygen toxicity caused by higher concentration of oxygen in the mix.

How deep can I dive with nitrox?

The depth of a dive with nitrox depends on the percentage of oxygen in the gas mix. In recreational diving, this amounts for anything between 22% and 40%.

What is the difference between air and nitrox?

Atmospheric air contains approximately 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen. Nitrox contains more oxygen than found in air, typically ranging between 21% and 40%.

Do I need special equipment to dive with nitrox?

Recreational divers do not need any special equipment to dive with nitrox. They do however use a specially marked cylinder and are required to analyse the gas mix.

Is it worth doing a nitrox course?

Yes. Nitrox is one of the most popular recreational courses. With a Nitrox certification you’ll be able to extend your bottom times and improve your overall dive knowledge.

Where can I get nitrox certified?

Most dive centres offer nitrox courses focusing on theory and practical applications. You can learn with us and become a nitrox diver here in Gozo.
